LOST:Spruce Pine, NC (2019)
Beginning in Brooklyn, I get in my car and head south for roughly ten hours. My phone GPS quits working just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, next to the Toe River. I wander up the serpentine roads in Western North Carolina; this is how I know I'm close. Three years spent as a Resident Artist at Penland School of Craft made it, so I know this drive well. Fifty miles from Asheville and only minutes from Penland sit's Spruce Pine: the" Mineral city of the world."
